Difference Between RAM and ROM
This is going to be an interesting tutorials you are going to learn about the Difference between RAM and ROM in a computer. Before starting the tutorial we must know what is a memory in computers. I hope that you're going to enjoy this.
Operating system memory can be viewed as a list of cells into which numbers can be placed or read. An operating system memory consists of many millions of bytes, and it is easier to measure it given a unit, it is called Kilobytes denoted by (K). One kilobyte is equal to 1024 bytes and one gigabyte is equal to 1024 megabytes. In Computers, main memory comes in two principal varieties RAM stands for (Random Access Memory) and ROM stands for (Read Only Memory).
List of the Difference between RAM and ROM Memory
Random Access Memory (RAM) | Read Only Memory (ROM) |
The Main thing about RAM is RAM is erased when the power to the computer turned off. | Where Rom memory is typically used to store the computer’s initial startup instruction. |
RAM is a faster work process. | ROM memory is a slow work process compared to RAM. |
It is only used for temporary information | It is used to store permanent information and it cannot be deleted information. |
RAM uses electricity to perform flow to preserve information. | Rom does not use electricity to perform to flow to preserve information. |
RAM price is high. | The price is low. |
RAM is a higher physical size than ROM memory. | Rom is lower in physical size than Ram. |
RAM is categorized into 2 types: 1. SRAM (Statistic RAM) 2. DRAM (Dynamic RAM) | ROM memory is categorized into 3 types: 1. PROM(Programmable read-only Memory), 2. EEPROM( Electrical Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory), 3. EPROM(Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory). |
RAM is a chip that is inserted in the motherboard. Its shape is like a rectangle form. | ROM memory is an optical driver which is made of magnetic tape. |
